AHIMA Engage Online Communities allows for fluid search functionality, more robust community discussions and resources, public forums allowing for wider networking, enhanced user profiles that can connect with LinkedIn accounts, and much more! Step 1:  Build your member profile

This video tutorial will demonstrate how to update your member profile and privacy settings in the AHIMA Engage Community site.

Quick How-Tos

Logging in
Visit engage.ahima.org and click the "Login to participate" link on the top right hand side of the homepage.

Editing contact information
Navigate to your myAHIMA profile and update your contact information.

Adding profile information
Enter profile information such as bio, associations, education, job history, and areas of interest by simply clicking on the wheel icon on the right hand corner of each section.

Save time by adding profile information with LinkedIn
Click on the Grab profile info from LinkedIn link in your profile to help make completing your profile quick and easy!

Setting privacy settings
Change your privacy settings to your preference by clicking on the My Privacy Settings link.

Step 2: Expand your network

Find contacts through basic search
Find a member using the basic search by name, company, or email. You can manage how much of your profile information others can see in the My Privacy Settings.

Find contacts through advanced search
Finding a member using the advanced search allows you to find members by location, education, job title and setting. You can manage how much of your profile information others can see in the My Privacy Settings.

Add a member as a contact
When you perform a search in the Directory, you will see an “Add as contact” link to the right of each person in your search results. Also,when you view an individual’s profile, you can click the contact request link to the right of his or her profile picture. Go to My Contacts to view a listing of all your contacts.

Step 3: Joining communities

This video tutorial will demonstrate how to utilize the heart of the AHIMA Engage site, Communities. Communities are a place where you can discuss, ask questions and share knowledge with your fellow peers.

Quick How-Tos

Join communities
To browse communities to which you can join, navigate to Communities then click the "Join" button to the right of the community name. After you have joined a community, the community will appear in the My Communities listing.

Engaging in discussions
To share your interests and partake in discussions, click on Post a New Message and start connecting with your colleagues on HIM trends and issues, especially in the HIM Content Communities!

Subscribing to a community
Navigate to My Subscriptions under the "My Profile" link in the main navigation bar, and click on the delivery option for posts (Real Time, Daily Digest, Legacy or No Email) of the communities you are interested in joining.

Step 4: Discovering resources

Quick How-Tos

Sharing resources
To share a resource, click on Share a File and post a resource in a community to which you belong.

Searching for resources
To search for a resource, click on the magnifying glass in the search bar. You are able to search for resources that have been uploaded by other members, the date the resource was uploaded, or by communities or keywords.
