Patient Records Access on Patient Portals

Hello, we are looking into the idea of making our patient's records accessible to them through the portal.

Our main concern at the moment is the risk of providing patients with information that could be altered/tampered with once out of our system.

Do any of you have patient records available for them on their portal?  If so, what types of checks do you use to ensure this feature is being used in a responsible way?

Thank you for your help!  :)

You don't! While it may behoove your organization to offer advice about identity theft and keeping their information secure, it is ultimately up to the patient. Once the records are in their hands, they may do as they please with them. Your organization is not liable for whatever patients decide to do with their own medical records.
