We currently use Meditech 6.1X and will soon be moving to Epic. In Meditech you can use the Function keys but I never have as I just use my mouse and click.

We have been a Meditech hospital for quite some time now. I have used Magic, Client Server and now Expanse. I miss the ability to use those shortcut/function keys as the amount of clicking has already caused three surgeries in my department. We are having a big problem with our physician query process with Expanse. I would say it is no better than Client Server or former versions. Providers do not love the web-based version and have not yet found any time saving or benefit to Expanse.
We are looking to transition to Expanse in the next year or so. Interesting to hear comments about Expanse....please everyone, keep the comments coming. Also any "words of wisdom" would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Trinity, we are a Meditech facility. Can you please clarify what you mean by random user audits? We just went live with the Meditech portal last week. So far it's ok.

Yes we use Message/Tasks for deficiency communication and for coding queries. Our coding queries become part of the legal record in the echart once they are complete.
The printed record is a lot of nonsense in my opinion. Meditech for some reason wants to have the audit trail version of certain documents so the pages are larger. I have asked them to provide just summary pages for the pharmacy document but they never budged. So yes, it is very difficult for attorneys and such to read the chart and make sense of it. We spend a lot of time explaining, reviewing, and finding key information for them. Another item is the audit trail history, while it is exists, it sometimes doesn't give you the full picture. We also started the web version for our hospitalists and ER providers and they are not happy with it. It was supposed to revolutionize their workflow and it did not. Every update always breaks something and that is always the deficiencies for HIM. I hope this helps answer some of your questions.

I don't know that we find it super difficult, but yes a lot prints. The nursing notes and pharmacy information can be a lot of pages, and the pharmacy stuff is duplicated. One has the charges and one does not. I don't personally have a problem figuring out what happened with the patient from documentation in the Echart, but I am wondering what it is specifically they have a hard time with? In case we have any suggestions?<o:p></o:p>
