What distribution methods does your organization utilization to get results to an ordering provider?  If the provider is within our health system, they are sent electronically to their electronic health record.  For those that are not part of our health system, we fax.  The technology is antiquated, yet it seems to be a challenge to find an alternative that will work.  Would any of you be willing to share how you have overcome this challenge?

While it is nowhere near universal (and only upon request in my department. I work in ROI, not imaging/lab so we don't know when things are done just when we are called about them), we also email a number of them. Both for larger files that are impractical to fax, or containing sensitive, as its much quicker, with instant contact/confirmation. There is also a part of our EMR that apparently other clinics can be set up with to access patient charts themselves.

Still not perfect, but I think is better than fax for a few reasons. Hope that helped some.
