Interested to see how other Meditech users handle the transfer of attending physician responsibilities, for example surgeon to hospitalist.

Our current process is the current attending creates an order for the attending physician change with the new attending (after having a conversation with the other provider).  This order generates to registration staff to make the change in Meditech.

The missing piece is there is no way for the new attending to acknowledge acceptance of that order and we are relying on this being an "implied" acknowledgement of the transfer of care.  We want clear time stamps of when one provider's duty ends and the new begins, and would prefer for this to be automated.  We do not want any gaps in patient care and want it to be clear at all times who the patient was under the care of.

    Hi,

Meditech allows for the provider to change the attending of record. I am not sure you can see that in the orders but can been seen in the history in the MPI desktop. I am now curious to see where we can see the change in attending in the Echart.  It would be great if your process can be automated. Good luck!
