Hi Everyone,With new technologies that surface each day and especially for Epic users with the app HAIKU, is there any AHIMA guidance, recommendations or concerns that anyone can share with me on using or not using photos of signed consents for procedures.Only legible photographs are uploaded directly into the patient's EHR to be used real-time to replace the need for scanning the consent after the procedure and avoid the loss of paper traveling with the patient throughout care.Sincerely,Cherri
Thank you for your response.
The photo will be of the existing consent form, so the necessary elements will be on the form. The process will just be to photograph instead of the scanning the signed consent. This goes directly into the patient's encounter and does not stay on the phone – that is how the HAIKU process works in Epic.
Have a wonderful holiday.
