Does your facility report an OB laceration as a secondary diagnosis if there was not a repair?  The Official Coding Guidelines and Coding Clinic do not address this scenario.
    Thanks in advance!

Good question.  I code it as a diagnosis but not a procedure.  Physician does document, usually a 1st degree not bleeding laceration.

I code OB lacerations even if they don't require repair because I feel that any skin opening, however minor, is going to be somewhat monitored in a hospital.  I do not, however, code abrasions.
