Pancytopenia in acute leukemia

    Dear all,
    Greetings


    If patient admitted for pancytopenia work-up and bone marrow biopsy was done confirms acute leukemia. During the stay blood transfusions provided. kindly suggest me whether pancytopenia is an integral to newly identified leukemia or should we report it additionally along with leukemia ?

    "Your doctor will conduct a complete blood count (CBC) to determine if you have leukemia. This test may reveal if you have leukemic cells. Abnormal levels of white blood cells and abnormally low red blood cell or platelet counts can also indicate leukemia." From the American Society of Hematology, emphasis mine.

    It doesn't seem that pancytopenia is an integral part so I think it would be reported separately.
