For those of you in this community who are independent contractors, can you recommend an insurance carrier who specializes in professional liability coverage for HIM professionals? Thank you.

Way back in the day, AHIMA use to offer this service or the name of a company that offered a discount to AHIMA members.

    Hello everyone,
As a consultant with my own company I have an agent and have a policy through The Hartford that covers everything I need so that might also be one to check into.  Best of luck to you.

    Thanks,
    Nicole

I did find this information on the AHIMA website a little while ago, and it was not easy. Here is the company that I found:

Call 1-800-503-9230 or visit the website at www.proliability.com.

    Mercer Consumer
    Professional Liability Insurance
    P.O. Box 14576
    Des Moines, IA 50306
    Fax# 212-948-1509
    Email: proliability.service@mercer.com

I did give my AHIMA ID, etc.!

    Best wishes,
    Dwan

Go to my.AHIMA.org and look at the affinity programs. There is information on professional liability there.
