Consents for Re-occurring Appointments

  • 1.  Consents for Re-occurring Appointments

Good morning, would anyone be willing to share your organizational practice for obtaining consent for re-occurring appointments or orders, such as labs?  Do you obtain a new consent for each visit, or how long is the consent considered valid?

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi everyone,

I am completing a Masters Degree in Legal Studies for Healthcare Law.

This is a question that I would be happy to research and answer.  I'll provide citations as well so everyone will have the same information.

    Thank you,
    Michelle Bottone

    Good afternoon Ms. Hamilton,

I am so sorry that this research is taking me a while.  I am first starting at the Federal Level, and I am looking for "Standing Orders 2020."  This is not an easy subject to research.  I completely understand your issue and wanted to let you know that I am still working on this.  I am tenacious when it comes to research, so I WILL find an answer for you that encapsulates your question.

If by chance, I believe that my research is lacking important details, I will outright tell the group.

For example, I completely understand the second part of your question.  I have hypothyroidism.  My doctor gives me a standing order that is good for four months, which means (for me) that I can get my TSH levels drawn twice from the one order.  Then I would go back to my doctor's office and repeat the process.  That is the process in PA, but I am not sure whether that is a Federal Mandate (see how this requires detail?).

I will keep working on this, and give you the best result I can.

    Thank you,
    Michelle Bottone

    Michelle,

Thank you so much for all of your hard work.  We tried to research it as well and did not find much information.
