Good morning Team!    In conjunction with our Case Mgt Dept, I am researching Observation status vs Inpatient admission guidelines for physicians and came across this topic in AHIMA:  Observation status or inpatient admission – Guidance for Physicians    July 7, 2003  but curious as to if anyone has information that is more current.   This is for physician education.

    Thanks,

Go to Section 10.2 - Hospital Inpatient Admission Order and Certification.  Very detailed about documentation requirements.

    Susie,
Our FI (Novitas) just held a symposium and covered the attached education (Observation and ED). It's as close to Inpt and Obs education as I could get. I believe the slides include hyperlinks to other areas of their page.

    I hope this helps some.
